Kuda Putih sering kali harus berangkat dari petak f3 di jalur utama dengan pusat tertutup, jadi di sini Putih bermain f3. Putih mempertahankan beberapa fleksibilitas tambahan. Sebagai contoh, jika Hitam menyerang di tengah dengan… e5, Putih dapat memilih untuk menutup pusat dengan d5 dan kemudian bukan sisi Raja Rokade!
